This song’s been in my head for the last two days. There are times (and there are songs when “times” = “every time”) when she is just too damn twee for me, but I love this one. I love the video, too, which I haven’t watched until today, because it highlights the fierceness in her softness, the intensity of her stare and of her movements and of the other people in the video as well.
She’s smoky-voiced and sultry and has a little bit of an Audrey Hepburn thing, in that when she sings about fucking it seems somehow classier, and this song despite its conditional “I-could-be-in-love-with-you-but-only-if-you’re-in-love-with-me” lyrics is actually demanding something, not begging for it.
